38/38 with Carter P4070

Hi all, this is the fuel delivery combo that I'm planning on initially running in the new track car (Mk1 + 1600). The 38/38 carby that I have has a return line fitted to it. Does anyone know if it's a simple case of blocking off the return line from the carby or does it have to have a return line?
