Good sydney carb repairs/manual choke conversion/refinishing

Hi all,
Im looking for someone who knows their stuff with escorts. I want to get my 32/36 standard carb rebuilt and dont want someone who hasnt done one before " having a go with mine". Someone in wollongong/sydney is prefered however I can post it if there is someone highly reccomended elsewhere.
Im also thinking of getting the body refinished but Id prefer anodizing or nickel plating as opposed to paint. Has anyone had this done?
I also want to get rid of the water choke. I saw a direct replacemnt electric conversion for $145 from england and that seems like a good idea to me. Any thoughts?

If you're not afraid to do it manually, there are cable kits available, don't know about electric ones.

this is the electric choke kit. only $50. looks pretty good to me, seems a lot more hassle free than the water choke setup. I think id just use an illuminated rocker switch in one of the vacant switch plates on centre dash to let me know when its on

Give a thought to buying a new one with a manual choke. Add up the cost of a rebuild + sell your old carby on Ebay and you would be looking at very similar $$$. Remember with buying from the UK you can take 17.5% off the price for their VAT (GST).
Or you could go one step better and get a 38/38.

Just having a look at new webers and Im thinking about a 38 DGMV. Has anyone any experience with fitting a 38 weber in place of the standard 32/36? Keep in mind my engine is going to be a mild street motor, maybe just a smallish cam like the kent/burton high torque or similar. Minimal head mods, electronic ignition etc. Im hoping for around 120-130 hp. 130 is probably a bit hopeful.

Do you mean the 38 DGMS?? I haven't heard of the DGMV before, but I am no carby expert. The 38 DGMS will bolt straight up to the standard manifold, it will perform better at the lower end being syncronous and both barrell's opening together rather than a progressive set up on the 32/36 DGAV. Tuned/jetted properly it should run sweet and many have done it before and I have one ready to go when she nexts goes in for a service. I can't say what hp it would be good for.

ordered my new carb. I got a 32/36 but with a manual choke so no more water choke. Not sure if Im going to do a cable operating choke or the electric choke but most likely the electric. It cost me $350 Aud delivered to my door, so pretty happy with that. Got it from fast road cars in the UK

you should have got a 38 DGAS (v6 capri type) bolt strait on
any 32/36 carb is pure crap in comparison

that advice was what I was looking for BEFORE I ordered the carb. Dosent really help me much now........ Anyway, Ive read the 32/36 will supply an engine up to 125-130hp so that suits me just fine. Im not looking to build a big hp engine and the fact the carb is standardish is what appeals to me more
