Block is all machined up and ready for assembly. Just a couple of mods to do to keep the gear drive wet.

Heads just needs guides fitting and then final seat cut and blend.

The gear drive is made by Titan and is a reproduction of what Cosworth originally made for Formula junior engines in the early 60's.

Whats the go with the bomb shelter

Dyno room 5.2m x 4.2m x 2.8m.

Same length and width as the one I already use with more height.

Should be long enough to fit a full exhaust system from Escort, apparently there aren't many around.

Just went through the same process with a pinto block. The moroso hard block filler was a suggestion from a workmate. I had never heard of it before. total cost $1000 including all cleaning,inspection and machining work. Sound about right?
Is the lack of casting there an issue or par for the course when sleeving these blocks?

A grand is about the mark.

The block I have used is a very poor example and generally you would never break through that bad.

No it's not.

The block is soft sealed and all parts are sitting on shelf. As I said from the start I'll do this when time permits.

Hasn't stalled, pretty low on the list though.

I did on Friday though do a bit, machined down the left hand mount so it will fit Cortina cross members and made some spacers to go into an Escort.

Washed it all up and put it back on an engine stand. Bottom end only requires assembly, just need to pick a sump.

Thought i would ad some details about my engine that just been finished of a few months ago all fitted to my Mk1 cortina front cover car Retro Ford last month

Full spec

AX Block 86mm Bore
84mm Steel Stroker Crank
H Beam Rods 5.430"
86mm Forged woosner pistons with 30.43 Comp. height compared to Xflow's usual 38.8 ish
Big Valve Head with Large ports will get sizes as cant remember of hand but there very close to Pinto Grp1 head has been machined to make these fit with bronze valve guides
Isky Double Valve Springs
Machined Kent 264 cam
Twin 48 webbers with Beztex Ignition system
Proper Mass Large Manifold

Car has just made 175hp at 7100rpm got more revs but holding back a bit also have not touched timing as yet and only changed jettings on carbs , waiting for my high torque starter to be fitted so i can get rid of my pre engaged started have replaced 5 already in the time i had engine finished :( 3 months not good as i have to run 24v to get the thing started so need to get back to 12v with high torque starter then we can play with timing , still going to go up a jet size on carbs and possibly going to change Cam so more development coming

Engine has been sold.

Going into a Cortina.

Car will arrive after the nationals on the June long weekend.

Will be using some exsisting bits of owners engine in the car and since it's a paying job now it will be finished shortly there after.
