Postby kizza » Thu Dec 27, 2007 10:02 pm

need some help sorting out abit of a problem with my pinto. it will start and idle fine however, if im driving and put the car in nuetral (or press the clutch) the engine will just die everytime. the timing is spot on and we changed over the carby with another one today and the problem hasn't changed. its running the standard 32/36 and crane xr700 ignition. this has got me stumped anyhelp would be very much appreciated. cheers kizza

Hi, if you are absolutely sure that both camtiming and ignitiontiming is okay (and all the parts are in good condition: plugs, leads etc) then I would suggest you spray some brake-cleaner onto various parts of the gaskets of the inlet.
If that has no effect then disconnect and plug all vacuumhoses connected to the inletmanifold to see if has any effect.
With both checks you can make sure there is no vacuumleak in the inlet. It's common for gaskets to leak abit after age and/or membranes in the brakebooster or vacuumpod of the dizzy to leak.

Hope this helps. Grtz, Leon.
