mk1 tach on YB engine?

Postby b930 » Fri Apr 26, 2013 11:51 pm

Hi
I can not get a mk1 inductive tach to work with a cosworth YB set up. I am running the positive to the coil through the inductive loop on the back of the tach but nothing. Do I need a tach amplifier or something??
Cheers

Never had much to do with them but the info that came with my Crane ignition mentions this; If your using an aftermarket coil try taking out one loop of wire off the back of the tacho. Also you have to make sure it goes back through the pick up the same way. Maybe your wire is looped through in reverse which will stop the tacho working? Also mentions that you may have to re-calibrate it if possible.

Hope this helps. SB

Thanks for that, decided on getting an 80mm unit from speedhut.com and slotting her in there instead of pulling my hair out. I'm also going to get one of their GPS speedo units also as mine needs recalibrating.
