Bit of an update, been surfing ebay and got my hands on a gauge cluster
with the tacho in it and also got black door cards and a black rear seat.
Also found out what was wrong with the carbie, the base of it was warped
so i got it machined and re jetted to suit the motor, i got it done at
Twin cam Services in Seaford and i recommend him if you need parts or advice
for Escorts or cortinas or capris and stuff.

That'll look better than the baby poo brown interior! I ended using vinyl paint in a can to repaint my door cards.

You need a new camera.

Got a question, anyone know if you can get a 'drop tank' or a low slung fuel tank for an escort.
I'v seen one but i cant find anyone who sells them, any suggestions?

Is your tank in the boot?

You just need a drop tank from a MKII Escort. I'm sure there'll be a few of them surplus to requiremenets on the forum.

Cheers,

Post you want one in the wanted section.

Someone will def have one. You see them on eBay for around $50 or so.

Yeah, getting there. They are on but I need a proper tune as they go fine till 4k then choke them selves. Main jet may need drilling out a but more.

Hope to get them tuned in the next few weeks.

How far are you away?

Are they hard to tune or do they have a sweet spot and stay good?

Yeah im getting close, just getting the last few things done for a roadworthy then it should be all sweet,
we were doing some wiring today and realized that the high beams aren't working at all and what seemed to be
an easy job turned into a nightmare, lots of live wires that dont go anywhere and the dash lights are really dull for
some reason haha but we are getting there.

They are actually really easy to tune but I pulled them apart so many times loking for leaks that I think I have the floats too high or something.

One of their better attributes is that once they are tuned they stay tuned for a long time.

Usually when the lights don't work it's due to poor grounding or maybe the switch is stuffed.

I hate troubleshooting wiring gremlins!!

Are you going for full reg or putting it on club plates? I just got mine on club plates. Very cheap way to regularly drive your car.

Good luck.

Sweet, ill have to see them some time. Yeah i had a problem with the float sticking
in the Weber thats on my 4wd made it flood continuously. Your car will fly once they are all good though.

Yeah the wiring sucks thats why i roped my dad into helping me haha. i was going to just go full reg because
once this car is done it's going to be my daily driver. Can you do club reg on a daily?

You can but you can only drive it 90 days a year. You just need to be a CAMs affiliated club member and the rego is only $120 per year.

Pretty cheap but if you want it as a daily probably won't suit.

Good luck with it all.

If you need a hand sing out.

Cheers

Hi Matt

Um not really to be honest, i spent some time about a week ago cleaning underneath
and i washed it, repainted a few bits. I got it running pretty right now which is good but my attention
has been on my Suzuki lately, i blew up the engine in November and since then iv been getting
a new performance motor built and iv been fixing all those little things that i couldn't be stuffed doing when
i was driving it. Ill post up some pics of the escort seeing as its actually clean at the moment and ill
post some pics of the Suzuki as well for anyone who's interested.
