Its a company called PearlStreet. They are quite large in the inspection world having bought up serveral compaines over the past few years. Still a bit concerned about this 10 days sickness part of the contract, is that the norm or a bit on the light side? Saying this, I have not been off sick for many years, but you never know. Would hate to be stranded in country with no money coming in to pay the bills!

No problems as 10 is the norm but why I was asking is because if it was a government based or affiiliated you can use Q Super which has really good Income protection policy but most of them do but you wonty need them unless you go on stress leave

457 visa does not qualify for full Medicare coverage, however reciprical arrangements for UK allow for "imeadiately necessary treatment", whatever that means..... Under the 457 your sponsor EMPLOYER carries resonsibility to provide you with medical insurance unless your employment contract aleviates them (ie requires you to carry your own insurance)

Do a quick Google search for '457 visa' - plenty of info out there

Superannuation - sometimes a negotiation point for professional or skilled level employment contracts - alternatively your employer may offer salary sacrifice - might be worth pursuing.

Nice one chaps! I will send off some PM questions as I think them up. Bit pissed off today with work so not in the right mood. Good for me leaving though as the more I think about it, the more I think this is not the job for me and I have nowt to loose!

Will have to ask the company about the 457 and Medicare carry on. Especially for the family. Dont want to get stuck if the worst were to happen.

This is not like the good old days when I used to jump onto a banana boat into a war zone and just laugh down the barrels of AK47's! I think I must be getting old!!

Just had a kick in the nuts this morning. I am now told that my salary is just that, a salary. Any overtime that I work as part of my duties recieves no extra pay! In my game it tends to be some quite long hours, weekends, late shifts, fair ammount of travel. How the hell will I fit this into 38 hours a week? I would say more like 60 hours. Means 22 hours week done for diddly squat!!

Just fired off my concerns and awaiting response. I have basically asked for more money when working more hours. I dont see any harm in that??

We shall see...
