Cossie YB rods

What would the rated rpm be for the std cossie rods??????

Albert,
I'm not sure of the factory spec for YB rods, but I've known some to turn 9000rpm. I'd think you'd be pretty safe in all but the most extreme of situations.

Albert,
Piston, pin & ring package weight makes a difference. Packages rangeing from 450gm up to 600+gm make a big difference when multiplied by thousands of G's at TDC.

Um. John is sort of correct. The linear speed of a piston/rod etc increases from BDC to 90 degrees or say 9 o'clock and then decreases from that point to TDC and the corresponding change of direction.
The piston mass is not as important as the strength of the rod and gudgeon pin. We ofter see rod failure or stretching prior to the piston being lunched as it hits the head.
