Pinto build then convert to YB?

Gday All.
Terribly confused as to which way to go for my MK1 build.
I want quick of course but would love to be able to fit into a few competitive categories.
I love the idea of duratec but that means no for any classic or historic categories only IPRA.
Then I hear of a potential Nd class being thrown around & my head is in a real spin! A pinto in Nd would be fun & not far off being competitive. But will Nd happen? Nc doesnt interest me as I dont want to go BDA or Lotus.
I could keep the pinto, build a super tough bottom end & use a YB head & race IPRA and then if Nd does happen I can go back to the pinto head.
So the big, possibly ignorant, questions;
Can you use the same pistons, rods etc going from a YB head to a pinto head (or vice versa)?
Would it only be a matter of changing the head and accessories over or am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.
