Gday fellas

Hoping some of you experienced guys might shed some light on this. I've searched but can't seem to find what I'm after. I'm sure it's a fairly common question.

I recently scored a Sierra EFI setup for my pinto. Hadn't planned to go down this route so I have a few questions regarding heads.

I've been informed it would be much more beneficial getting a Sierra head instead of the pinto. Not knowing much about the sierra one, I'm assuming it's alloy??

Question is, is it that much better than the pinto head? As I have one of them spare I can put some money into, but not sure where to look or how much to pay for a Sierra head.

Not looking for race car performance.

Hi Mark,

Firstly all Pinto heads were cast and no factory alloy heads were ever made. The advantage with an EFI head is that the inlet port is slight raised to account for the injector spray down the port. It can save a bit of work in porting and provides a slightly straighter flow to the valve. I'm not sure if there are any other advantages but it is a good place to start.

An 1.6L Sierra head would give a smaller combustion chamber for higher CR.
