I went to the race today and the RS Focus was on display at the FPV stand. It looks good in the flesh. It was great to finally see and sit in it. Some pictures attached.

Evo!!!! There is a joke there...something about pubic hair.............

I reckon if you bought one you could spend another 20k and steal a gas axe and point the engine in the right direction with a decent gearbox and a diff in the back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just run Escort Cossy 4x4 running gear under it and be done with it. Latest wheels magazine reckons that the new Focus RS will be 4x4 but with an electric/hybrid thing in the back........stranger things have happened.

OK. what is the diff between the Focus XR5 Turbo and the RS??? On the face of it the XR5 might be thought of as better?

I think the RS is the pinnacle of factory Focus development. Performance wise there might not be much in it, but the RS has more power, different brakes and that special diff to attempted to control 224kw through the front wheels. The price will be the interesting thing as I believe that 320 are comming here. We bought our Mk2 RS2000 brand new in 1979 for about $6000, I bet it will be more than that................

As most of you native to Australia will not have had the pleasure of driving a Sierra RS Cosworth, Escort RS Turbo, or Escort RS Cosworth when they first came out, it may be a bit hard to understand what makes these cars so special, or why this would be better than a XR5, or for that matter an Evo or Subaru.

It may only have front wheel drive (they really should make a 4wd version of this) but it has something the Japanese performance stuff will never have, it has character and soul, and it has been designed with some thought towards what the driver will experience while driving it, unlike an Evo or Scobby which seem to be getting more anonymous and bland with every update.

We will probably get well and truly shafted on price though, as we seem to do with Evo's and any other performance car that is not built here.

They are truly special cars had the plesure of being at the media day recently
every body speaks well of this car and plenty of fun factor

I was out shopping for a new car today and saw a white RS in the flesh.

OMG

Much sexier than the WRX and EVO.

Then I made the mistake of letting my wife look at it while we were out. I couldn't get her out of it.

So now I'm having to come up with reasons why we shouldn't buy it, rather than reasons for buying it.

They wouldn't let us test drive it though. Don't know why.
