Braided Line & Dry Sump

Starting to investigate and research dry sump systems for a Pinto.

Pace and Titan both do kits for the Pinto. Are there any others? Anybody used these kits? Did you have to modify?

Where is a good place in Australia to source braided lines and fittings? I am trying to do a rough budget costing for a full dry sump system but need to get pricing for the lines and fittings.

Not sure I have my head around scavange vacuums and whether or not the rocker cover needs a breather........

Hi MK1 Oz, theres a post some where in the general area that will give you a little insight into what your up for. I think it was 'Dry Sump Info' As for pumps and this is only my opinion i would steer clear of the two you mention as they dont really perform that well. Look to the states for either barnes, petterson, aviaid and a number of others. There is also a company in WA i think its called BDG, good stuff but not cheap. As for fittings and hose Keep clear of Earls and proflow they all leak Speed flow or Aeroquip are my choice. Hose is a no brainer find the best price. As for hose and fittings cost mine came to around the $1600+ and then theres the Pump, tank, remote oil filter, check valve, oil cooler, sump, crank drive, belts and HTD/gillmer pulleys and the list goes on.

Your best bet i think would be to talk to Danny or as i did find someone that deals with this stuff on a regular basis

Good luck its no small or cheap task going down this route

thanks Mik. I recall that Danny has been less then kind when talking about Pace and Titan systems.

Going to the states will probably get a better pump but then I will need to design and make the brackets, pulleys etc etc that goes with it. Pace and Titan would have provided the lot

Have you had bad experiences with P & T yourself???

Heres the list of my fittings

2- -12 90 bulkhead
2- -12 straight bulkhead
2- -12x3/4 adapters
1- -12xm18 adapter
5- -12x-12 adapters
2- -12x-10 adapters
15m -12 hose

My pump is for a SB chev so there are more fitting between the pump and engine where titan is connected directly to sump.
All the titan tanks can't be taken apart eg split in half. Tanks need to be cleaned at some stage.
Oil cooler is personal choice
My modified check valve is in the feed line not the return.
And if i was to do it again i would probably go with speedflow 400 series fittings and hose.

thanks for posting that up Mik....certainly a long list of connectors!!! Hopefully with no oil cooler and a Titan/Pace setup I can reduce that list and use less pipe too.

I realise by now that you like to have the best Danny but what do you suggest might be a realistic budget for a reasonable dry sump system?

I am so worried about oil surge as I have killed an engine around Mallala through that before...
