Note To Self...
Posted: Tue Mar 30, 2010 12:59 pmPicture this, sitting on the passenger floor, legs out the door, I think this was on my last Mk1. Welding something, might have been a patch or a seat bracket or something, pretty much between my legs. Welding causes small fires in the built-up crap under the floorpan - expected so I had airgun at hand to blow out any spot fires and water/fire extinguisher nearby if that failed. Stick welding (before I had a mig). Welding away, fire starts, unnoticed at first due to welding. Stop welding due to excess smoke, figure extinguishing is required in a hurry. While hastily reaching down to grab aforementioned airgun, sticks end of still very hot welding stick up, inside left welding glove. Hurts due to burning and also the fact that my arse is still planted inside the car, providing a mild sort of earth for the stick welder to shock me a bit. Eventually curse swear, fall out of the car onto the ground and flounder for the air gun to reach under the car and blow out the fire.
I got a rotisserie for my next build....
