Braided Line & Dry Sump

the question needs to be asked! is it worth putting a 4000 dollar dry sump system on a 2000 dollar engine?
OZ, are you going to be pushing the limits of components in this pinto engine, or are you after a reasonable budget build and therefore performance (ohter posts on rebuikld costs suggest so).
If a Dry sump is necessary, a must, one whos value and performance is comensurate with the intended value and performance of the engine would be a wise starting point.
As danny mentioned above a wet sump may be suitable, but many hundreds of engines are protected adequately by the pace and titan dry sump stuff. I imagine a leaky pump is just going to add to the Ford habit of leaking fluids, sump, gearbox, diff, brakes, bearings, driver?, so is it that big a deal.
There are hundreds of guys and teams that rely on the cheaper stuff and it works for them, For reasonable performance, not on the frontier of development, is it worth spending that much money?

Up to you, but Id prefer good tyres and brakes to increase performance than the worlds best dry sump system on a basic to reasonable engine.

I would like this discussion to continue if possible as I still have more to learn especially about the USA pumps and how to mount them.

Can somebody also detail what needs to be done to the block? Does the filter get removed and a plate put in that allows the pressure feed from the pump to enter the block there? I assume the internal oil pump is removed but I also assume that the original block inlet for it needs to be blocked somehow?

Is there machine work needed or not?

Mounting the USA pumps is not that straight forward. Quite a bit of machining involved. Although my goals for mounting may have been different to yours.

I needed to clear the engine mounts.
I wanted it as low as i could.
I wanted a power steering pump mounted to the rear.

You have to calculate all this with the pulley size and belts available in mind. Danny was a great help (he has given the same advice in threads on here if you take care in reading).

If you do not have access to cheap or free machining it may be too much bother for the gains over a titan or pace kit for your given engine spec.

That is a peterson one - used a titan sump on Danny's recommendation.
