With A dash 16 fitting in front, for sizing

A series 2 Titan next to a US Weaver unit.

Its easy to see why the us units are more efficient.

They are [US] purpose built, as the titan is cobbled up ford design oil gears and bits n pieces.

Titan have plain bearing in the rear, roller in front. eg poor design.
The oil sealing is rubbish.

However they are small and efficient...and might work with care and some design updates....maybe.

I sorta convinced that Titan and Pace pumps are no good. Sounds like Titan sump is OK but needs work to the 3 piece scavanges to stop leaks. I suppose the pulleys etc could be either Pace or Titan or other. Hose is hose and Speedflow Aeroquip fittings. No idea what brand filter or cooler yet.

Where is the best place that people have found to source the USA pumps from (dont say USA :evil:

A place in St Peters, South Australia apparently sells Barnes pumps (thanks Mk1 Paul). Who else have you guys sourced from (direct from manufacturer or retail)?

Decent US pumps;

Barnes?
Petterson?
Weaver (comment on yours Roger?)?

Mk 1 Paul, after re reading your 2 and 3rd posts i still do not see that it is directed at yourself. But if it was intended to be that way then it is my BAD. And also where do i "state" that you do not have the right post on this forum. If you are referencing my quote at the end of the post go back and read the first sentence.
Mk1 Oz, Rogers picture shows 2 perfect examples of titan/pace pumps being inefficient, first is the size which Roger has stated and the other is the size of the drive sprockets. All things being equal the weaver pump will be spinning at half the speed of the titan pump and producing twice the pressure.

Yes I agree Mik. To see the side by side comparison is worth a thousand words on its own!!!!

I will admit to having never heard of Weaver pumps but it appears that they are worth a look. I assume this is now nicely installed in Rogers car and the Titan is in the bin....

I have seen Moroso, Weaver, Petterson and Barnes. Are these any good? The ones you previously attached Roger look the business

Me again......

Some of the US pump manufacturers are asking me what flow rate I need out of a dry sump pump. I know that the Pinto needs plenty of oil for the head but what is the flow rate??? This engine will rev to say 8500rpm.

3 stage pump is the go....yes?

While I am at it, those of you using USA pumps on your Pintos, what model numbers are you using?

Shoot....I have posted 3 in a row...people must be bored of this topic.

I am looking at the Peterson 3 stage pump 03-3401. It has -12 inlet and outlets and mounts on the passenger side. 'Bear Claw' mount.

Can somebody please comment as I can get a good price (if somebody doesnt get in first)

If this is the same 3 stage pump as shown on their website then they say it does 30Gal/Min

Steer clear of the bearclaw as you want the dual mounting blade pump from Peterson especially on a tarmac rally car. Look at the Chev series pumps with a -16AN inlet, -12AN scavengers and -10AN pressure outlet
The other thing that should be mentioned and no one else has said anything is I would be putting the money into things like brakes and suspension before doing this as they will have more of an effect on car speed than something a good wet sump sytem will do
How much of a budget do you have as this will knock you back at least $4k if you do it properly

shame to hear that this pump is no good as I could have got a new one for $750....

Bear Claw is just the shape of the mount??? The pump itself is the same? Can it not be made to work? I know that people have said before that a -16 to tank is required. Without wanting to look stupid, the -12 that this one has is not likely to be a reducer ie the outlet is -12 and cannot be changed to -16

Just when I thought I had listened to the advice and got this sussed!! :cry:

Just out of interest Raceline do a dry sump system with the pump built internally. in the sump. Greg follow Dobuys thread. Not sure if they do one for a pinto though. It has been used in action on their race car for about 5 years now with great success at around 300 bhp.
