Hi guys.
There seems to be a fair bit of emotion about the merits of having/not having an atlas axle.
For my part, I have run the same axle housing with the alloy axle brace and a ZF centre with 5.11:1 CWP since 1984 when I first built my car. It was built then as a GP2 works replica and since then has been rallied, hill climbed and circuit raced. The total competitive kilometres would be in excess of 10,000 and it has only last year had the centre out to replace the plates and the wheel bearings. I broke one half shaft in the 1985 Alpine Rally and apart from that it has never failed.
It had a minimum of 200HP until 1996 when the Cosworth head went on and now takes 240HP with 320LB/FT of torque in its stride.
Sure, the Toyota axle may be better all round but it does not have a Ford badge on it. I may consider a Hilux diff for the Zakspeed project if the width is the same as a Capri and I can source some 4 stud half shafts (from where I have no idea!)
Regarding parts: It helps when you have a brother who lives in the UK and has been a design engineer for Ford UK for 20 years!!
