30 Years Of The RAC Rally DVD

Hi there - stumbled across the forum chasing some information on Ford Capri V6 - great site similiar to Autosport UK forum.

If anyones interested we have a small specialist DVD website catalogue which apart from some wonderful historic motorsport DVDS includes a great program 30 Years Of The RAC Rally - which recalls a great era for Fords with the Escorts & Cortinas. Theres also 4 volumes of The Golden Age Of Motor Sport which covers not only the Tasman Series era but features some of the great early 60s & 70s tin top racing here in Australia including Escort/Cortina duels - all of this is from the Alec Mildren library.

Welcome to the forum. Looks like some good DVD's you've got there.

When will be ever see the bathurst races from the 70's and early 80's? Pity Ch7 threw them all out.

yes it is a pity - I'm led to believe all the tapes are part of landfill somewhere - or in Steve Raymonds bedroom under his matress!
The only thing available is the Chevron box set which covers 1960 thru 2001 - at least thats the set I have.
We may get lucky and a archive may come up like the Alec Mildren library where individuals have filmed events etc who knows. I'm sort of going after the unusual programs that keep surfacing apart from whats on our site at present - came across some wonderful US Trans Am programs from the 70s which has never been released + Can Am from the same period and Fords Le Mans programs - should have them out in the New Year.

There's a guy in northern NSW who has video tapes of Bathurst from 1980 onwards. I have the full 6+ hours of 1980 and 1981. The quality is not great but then gain it's better than nothing at all. Should convert them all to DVD! Do you know about these?

is that Phil Emmanuel up in Lismore?? (Tommys brother) - if so yes I spoke with him many months back. The thing is who ever filmed those videos (probably 7) owns the copyright. If you could get their consent then its possible to transfer from VHS over to Betacam digital and maybe enhance them in the process etc etc then release on DVD but its not the best.

thats a very nice piece of history there - did you get it to the Qld Historic races in July - will you be running it down this way ie The Creek - I get to a few of the historic races courtesy of a aquantence of mine Aaron Lewis who runs a Matich A50, and 2 Lola Indy 500 cars from the 60s (he used to own the Elfin MS7 and the F5000 version)

Plan is Phillip Island in March, then probably and Eastern Creek/Oran Park meet in May-ish, so there should be every opportunity to cross paths at one event or another.

Yeah Roger, if you have a digital set top box it is well worth watching. They have had some excellent stuff. I have a tape full of it. That Warwick Farm track was quite a place wasn't it?
