Cleaning Out Chassis Rails and Sills

Right, after a very messy day in the shed I have cleaned out the loose dirt using the air compressor. Probably still some stuff clinging to the sides though. I did not like the idea of using water as this would get into the etch primer (sand blasted and etched shell) and cause issues down the road.

I have used the Kurust product on the rets of the car and thought I would bung some of that down the voids to convert any rust and to put a barrier in place.

How would I do that?????

I have thought about trying one of those pump up garden weed sprayers but think some attachment to the normal paint gun would be more effective. I have searched the web and cannot find any such attachments though.

Surely one of you has done this before and can provide your experiences???????

Cheers Nev. I want to put some rust converter in there first as I can see a little bit of surface rust (not bad after 40 years!!!!!!!).

I have decided to find a large stiff bottle brush to attach to a drain cleaner (as previously suggested but a smaller domestic version) to clean off the loose dirst and rust. Then another blow with air.

The dificulty comes is that the rust converter is very viscous, almost water like, so a Shultz/underbody type gun will probably make a hell of a mess!!!

I will most likely use the stuff you have mentioned above but once the car is finished and painted. For now I am still trying to work out how to spray the rust converter (garden weed sprayer is best I can think at this time).

I use to use this oil we get in the army to clean/prevent rust on rifles bloody great stuff ...buggered if I can remember what its called military strength ?something?
