The Quattro's always got me for noise.

I remember a very cold frosty night in the forest of Dean on the 85' RAC it was the first night after the mickey mouse stages and the debut of the 6R4 and the Delta S4.

We were standing on the inside of a downhill hairpin left about 50 meters before the bend. Hannu Mikkola came down the straight in the Sport Quattro and threw the car right for a Scandy Flick before oversteering left and as he did a 3 meter flame shot out of the exhaust and burn the eyebrows of about 3 blokes next to me, we were in awe!!!......we stood further back after that but the hairs on the back of my neck still standup just thinking about it.

They were dangerous but christ they were cool!!

I think I am prejudice against turbos!!! The Quattro did sound good though.....

I remember as a kid I was SOOOO excited cos Dad's tarmac Rover SD1 had second hand Avon slicks from the Audi team!

I well remember helping Dad and his nav in teh shed welding up the front strut turrets.....he got the big old thing up on two wheels around some southern airfield resulting in much metal splitting and cracking!

I also remember that can dragging a very broken panhard rod hehe

One competitor that I remember was a bloke in an Escort called "Toogood"....I told my brother it would be funny if he crashed....and he did!! Not "Sogood"
