Weber's Vs Dellorto's

ok so im looking into side drafts, nothing crazy, just twin 40s.
stock bottom end, with a mild head [cam, porting, std valves]

so what's better? webers or dellortos?
seems to be plenty of both on ebay, all around similar prices.
and both use the same manifolds/soft mounts.
but what about linkages? how hard are they to come by?
any issues with tuning? how well do they stay in tune?

anything else i should know about?

I personally went with twin Weber 40 idf's - prefer the downdraft configuration to sidedraft after bad experiences with Minis in the eighties, and Weber over Dellorto because, um, i don't know, I just find tuning Webers is more intuitive than Dellortos (or Holley for that matter...)

And yes, a 38 DGAS would give better top end, but I like the snap response that the throat per cylender delivers and the interesting reactions when people see them - oh, and I prefer the sound too........ :twisted:

well id like the induction sound of twins, but finding someone local to tune them may be my biggest hassle.
DGAS would be easiest to set up, but if i was to buy new id get a DGES [electric choke] i suppose $475 isnt too bad, still get good power, and would take about 5mins to setup.
will DGAV filters fit on DGAS?

i have been given a few recommendations for tuners in Melbourne, so i'll have to make some calls first.

i have never seen anything on dellorto,s run nicely
just try to start an alfa romeo on a cold day or a hot night or any other time :roll:

the next worse is solex side draughts ,

must be a reason why ?
you cant give dellorto,s away !
even on ebay
delortos are poor mans webers
& webers are a poor mans fuel injection

the 35 year old 48mm webers on my car have increased in value
AND never had any problems
i have only ever striped them down once only to clean & inspect &
they still run perfectly
now im waiting for somebody to tell me a
"stromberg" is a good carby
