Hello all,
Can someone please point me in the right direction to work out what everything means on my I.D plate.
Also where does the Twin cam engine number come from? Is this also on the I.D plate?
Cheers

Thanks for the link,
My body stamp matches the compliance plate on the fire wall, however where do I find the engine number on the compliance plate and where on the engine is the number, is it on the block or the head?
Thanks

The 1600's engine number is on the block above the front welch plug, not sure though if that was for the tc's too

The engine numbers are generally never on the compliance plates, or at least they weren't during that era. However what Ford and others used to do was match the engine number to the chassis number. Basically they were stamped at the time they were married together on the production line. That's why people pay premiums for "matching number" cars.
Nowadays they generally don't bother and there's no real way to tell if an engine has been changed or not.
I'm not sure where TC engine numbers are located, although it will always be on the block. Maybe one of the other TC owners can help you with that one.
