Howdy,

My car is set up to run in Improved Production, racing, here in OZ,

http://www.iprasa.mx.com.au/

Which allows limited modifications to these rules.

http://www.iprasa.mx.com.au/rules.htm

All mods to car are done by myself, other than engine machining.

Older Specs.
It has a pinto, German 2 liter head,T 10 block. 38 & 43mm valves, twin 45s, 38 chokes, TRW 11.5 pistons, head planed to get 12.4:1. That put out 180 on engine dyno and 130 Rear wheel HP on chassis dyno. [depending on who u believe]

1600 cc struts with adjust height. 420 lb springs, 22 mm front bar, 3.5 of neg, 5 of castor. Capri competition wet strut inserts. Capri 2.8I rotors Volvo 4 piston calipers, DS 3000 pads. No booster. 13/16" master cylinder.

English axle with 4.44, clutch plate diff. 16mm rear bar. Koni shocks there. 125 lb springs. No traction bars.

4 speeder with SC/CR 2.39 first gear set. Rose quick shifter.

Couple o sets of wheels. 2 sets of 13 x 7 old A008rs on one,
A032s on other and a set 13 x 7/8 with F2/3 slicks on them, a s they become available.
2004

Currently same engine, with better? head. Different manifold. Same carbs
4.5 degrees neg 7 degrees of castor.
Capri struts, koni RX7 inserts, Volvo 4 spots, BMW rotors.

More modifications as I get to them and money is available.

Some pics and vids.

Hey Roger,
Great pics and could come in handy later. What yellow is that you have used on your car? I'm going to go Yellow but more than likely the Holden Monaro Devil Yellow. I am thinking Black bumpers and trims but have the Square headlight, which I reckon looks meaner with the flares.

How did you get so much offset on your front wheels to fill the arches. Just one of the problems I will be looking at later.

Get wheels with big offset.

Funny u should ask that.........................

When I took my wheel alignment equipment to JustinPs', I had to move the thing closer together, 3.5 to 4 inches, for his MK1

Do you know what the wheels were off or did you order a set with the offset you wanted?

Also what is the name of the colour yellow you have? it it original MK1 or another colour?

Performance Spitfires 13 x 7.

I recon the equivalent Superlites have same offset.

Color is three shades from its original color, of transport yellow, so dunno.

The color "name" is/was not important... had to be bright. Wink

It has black cage and I always wanted to paint door frames, and center pillar there, black to match the bumpers, but not got there yet.

Awesome car Roger.

Just having a look through the pics and i noticed you got some sort of hose/fitting going into the exhaust. Where does the pipe come from and whats it's function?

Also, Good idea with the chain to stop the tailshaft hitting the ground! Is this legal for Racing? Note to self - replace big heavy lump of steel that always seems to be in the way

How do you find the EBC Ceramics?

Is there any way to dload the videos as i am on dialup and usually don't like waiting around for them to load up?

Thanks,
Daniel

Tailshaft CATCHER is mandator for racing.

RED stuffs are not as good as DS 3000, in my opinion

Michael,

Don't despair. We all start somewhere, and each interation just gets better and better. At least you have an Escort with a few good bit's in it and you can have some fun.

Just as you look at others' cars and wish yours was like that, there'll be someone out there wishing they had your car 'cause it's better than what they've got (or don't have).

Patience grasshopper Very Happy

Michael,

One of the real problems Escort owners
[and its not only escort owners but other borderline?? classic cars]
fall into/group/ catagory what ever...............

one is using them as transport every day, whilst improving modifying

other is trailer sailer/non primary car eg not needed to be going any time soon.

This means expectations and/or time to work on them vary widely!

Just do what u can.

Don't worry, my thing has been coming together for a looong time, many years in fact. Trouble is I could quite easily start from scratch and make more improvements.

Like Nev says iterations.

Sounds like you have a plan so just keep ticking off the boxes every now and then.
