Which correct Temp Sender Unit?

Hi All

I've tried a couple temp sender units now on my 1600 xflow block. gauge is only moving up to the blue on dial.
Would it be correct in saying I need the twin cam sender unit? as I'm using a six dial dash.
Could this conflict with the amps etc using a six dial?
I did earth it out to test the dash and it seems to go straight up.
