Gilmer Belt Source

Postby MK1_Oz » Thu Jul 05, 2012 3:42 pm

Trying to measure up to make my dry sump pump bracket but need to know what belt sizes are available. I need a 1/2" wide belt and it appears somewhere around 20" in length.

I have searched for ages but cannot find a source. Does anybody have any suppliers that they use?

I have been getting somewhat confused regarding pitches and tooth shape. My drive pulley is from a Titan kit but other than that I don't know what pitch etc

I started with the gilmer water pump drive, then went to a single belt drive for the water pump and alternator as well. The alternator pulley was made by Jimmy Slider down at Pooraka just off Research Rd(No 93, unit 10). The actual belt I got through OG speed shop and they actually section a 1" belt in half, so you get two for the price of one, sorta!! If you take your pulleys down to Jimmy he'll know for sure.( take him down a KFC lunch and you should get his undivided attention!)

Having a quick look at Burtons and i think if you measure the OD of the pulley and count the number of teeth should give you the pitch. it looks to me as though there is plenty to choose from....15, 22 or 30 teeth.

So are you driving of the crank or auxilary shaft?

the oil pump will drive off the jackshaft via the Titan pulley. I have all the pulleys ready to go, it's just a case of working out an approx belt length so that I can work out the pump bracket dimensions. I will pop into the OG Speed shop on the way to work tomorrow night - driven past it a million times and never gone in!

Thanks for the input Steve thumbup.gif
