West German RS2000 1976 2 Door

Hi guys, I'm new to this site and was hoping that someone might be able to help me.

I bought a 1976 West German RS2000 back in 1995 and I am looking for some guidance on what would be a fair price to sell it for. Friends are saying 25k-30k but they are no experts so I was hoping someone on here might be able to help.

Details I have as follows:
- 1 of 25 brought into the country by Ford Australia
- It needs restoration.
- Some bits are missing i.e. the original diff, the alloy engine mounts from what I have been told.
- Two door sedan
- Year model 3/76
- Chassis No: GCATSA18274
- Engine: 2 litre pinto with alloy sump
- Engine No: CG56MS49416R
- 4 speed manual gearbox
- Fibreglass guards embossed with the Ford logo and fibreglass bonnet
- Colour: white

Also I have a white instrument panel on mine and heard that this is rare. Can anyone confirm?

They are worth what someone is prepared to pay but i would suggest that $25k plus for a car that is unrestored might be a little steep but who knows. The X-Pack body kit makes it interesting though. We have seen concours restored examples sold over recent years for mid 30's but with so few of them to compare it makes the task difficult.

Do you know if the car has any competition history?

The dash doesnt look anything unusual to me except that it has the early MK2 graduations on the dials. this would be correct for a 1976 car.

The RS Owners club of Vic has tried to keep track of the original 25 GCAT cars and yours is one that we didnt have any info on. Which state are you located in?

Hi John,

You may remember I came down from QLD in 2005 to have a look at the car on the Saturday morning. It's good to see you finally have it all together.

The dash is the original and is correct, as is the ID plates, clock pod and the nosecone. As John has mentioned some bits aren't there so I would suggest any potential buyers to view the car thoroughly just as you would do with any purchase.

Good to see #274 finally surface again and good luck with the sale.

As mentioned it is worth what someone will pay for it. I like the look of the X-pack kit and have always liked them however I don't think it would add value to an original German RS, it may even detract from its value. If original and un restored my estimate would be 15-20k, fully restored or original and immaculate 25-35k depending on history and condition/originality. The X-pack kit adds an unknown dimention.

Good to see another one pop up though.

I thought my guards were factory fitted by Ford as they have the Ford logo embossed on them.

None of the 25 Australian delivered cars had X-Pack kits on them new. The kit on your car is likely to still be a genuine Ford kit however it would have been fitted later.

Some of the cheaper fibreglass Zak speed/X pac guard kits also have the ford logo in them. Their moulds may have been cast from a factory set. I am half keen on the car as a project but I would be removing the guard kit, as it is a genuine German car. Each to their own I guess.
