Maybe Danny......but its worth more as an 'historic' car in the UK as it is and I wanted to see what it drives like in this set up as Mikkola and Vatanen have tried Coils and both reverted to slippers on their 'new' Escorts.
So if I'm trying some sprints soon and if the car is waving a front wheel in the air and going very sideways before the bends then I may not be fast but I'll be sure as hell having fun.
After the car is relatively setup and I'm happy that silly things aren't going to break, I'm changing the wheels and tyres and its off into the Forests dodging trees for me.
Right I've officially had a guts full this weekend......Lesson learnt, if you buy a half built car make sure you get a wiring diagram with it....Grrrrr!
Nothing is colour coded and things change colour between the component, the relay and the switch end!!! I feel like ripping the lot out and starting again.
Actually I feel like selling it and buying a nice road car at the moment!
Mark, You have been through this before I am sure. Have a few and it will all look a lot better. My car came from Tasmania, and look at it now. It all takes time, patience, a sense of humour and unfortunately money. Your car looked great yesterday and once your "Bling" bits are fitted you will see the result you wanted. Don't give up on the David
Mark, And I thought it was just me that did these sort of things. "the car does look ace as I'm sitting writing this on the laptop next to it." i know nothing about electrics, but if you need some help, I can drop by one afternoon and hold something!( a beer whilst we look at it) David
.....I was always taught that electrics on cars are like water they always flow from the source (Positive terminal) threw a number of components and finally to the ocean (Negative Ground).
They are straight forward if you do it from scratch yourself or you have the correct detailed diagrams.
I appreciate the offer mate but I've spoken to Aarron and he's offered to have a look so it'll be back on his trailer this week. I might take you up on the offer in the future though.....you could spray some bits for me instead of me brush painting them
The cars going back to Aarron's tomorrow for some much needed help tracing wires and maybe getting the thing started for the first time...
Meanwhile I spent all week working in the evenings fitting stuff... Radiator Electric Fan Electronic Ignition Air Horns Fuel pumps Fuel Filler and catch tray
I'll be putting a link up for a small video after but it feels soo bloody good to get behind the wheel of my baby....
We have a misfire at idle for some reason but past 3grand to seems to clear..I spent an age pop riveting my flares on today after they were sprayed, its all finally coming together.
Although I built the last two cars on my own with a little help from friends in the know, it feels great that this car has been built properly by someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't just give one option with regards to how you want to achieve the outcome with a certain budget.
I struggled to make my cars reliable and with a combination of lack of experience, skill, tools and patience I would never be able to get the car I have now and the one its going to be very soon, nevermind the relatively short period of time it has taken to get it to where it is now.
Thanks Aarron for all your help so far you are a star mate. I'd better get some money to you pretty soon before the car isn't mine anymore!! Mark J (Chuffed as Furk!)

Cheers Mark. I was just thinking on mine that I intend to only use one pump at a time and was concerned that it might rob pressure by pumping backwards through the second pump...
If people dont use them then I guess they are not needed!!!!
Okay....Although I don't think a competition car is ever truly finished....Evolution zero has finally come to an end on my Group4 replica, Historic Escort MK2 Rally Car...
There's a lot of people i'd like to thank from this forum for the Advice and Support but there are a few people that deserve special mention.
Jon, David and Steve - you have been a real help for advice and the words of comfort long may it continue. Thanks....
Aaron Hodges - When I first bought the car I visited a couple of well known Escort Experts for the hope of having all the fabrication work done properly and far better than I could ever hope to achieve but two things always put me off! Budget and Time. The well known ones were either far too expensive or me to even consider or i had heard scary stories of cars taking years to build. Then luckily for me I heard of and then spoke to Aaron. He had just taken over an ongoing business with the plan of turning it into an affordable place for like minded petrol heads who cannot afford the Touring Car team wannabe, snobby barstewards that are common place, who need or want there pride and joy built to a spec that they cannot achieve in their own shed! I initially just wanted the 4link and turret setup doing but I quickly realised that Aaron could do a far better job that I could ever hope for and the result is a quick turn round, a rally ready car and an unstressed father who my children and wife would thank Aaron for to!
I work in an environment that is very similar to the Motorsport one where the industry is full of people who are either brilliant at what they do, have a massive Ego but cannot communicate to anyone. Or... Crap with their hands but can bullshit all day long. Very rarely you get someone who is experienced, willing to try new things, listens to you and best of all, manages your expectations, Good or Bad.
Aaron in my opinion is one of those people so good luck mate, thanks for the car its exactly what I had in mind when I bought it.
I can't recommend letting SCS Automotive work on your car enough. They have experience, proven results, are very straight at telling what you get, fast at their work and last but not least as enthusiastic as anyone out there.
Anyway here is the virtually finished article.....Still got to fit Mudflaps and Alloy Door cards then logbook it!
