khumo v70a vs toyo r888

Anyone here used both? what do you prefer?

just bought some 14x6in challengers, and usually run 185's on my 13x6.5 rims. I noticed that the khumos come in 195 wheras the r888's only do a 185 and a 205 - which is too large in my opinion.

cheers

I have used both. My opinion is the khumo is better in the dry, toyo better in the wet, but they're both excellent.

We're using the khumo v70a's, 175/60 on 13x7's. Haven't had the opportunity to use them in the wet but they're pretty good in the dry. Lifespan isn't huge, but that might just be the way I drive.

The guys up here seem to think that the Toyo is definitely the better hillclimb tyre as it heats up quicker than the Kumho. The Kumho is very good for multiple laps. Keeping in mind that we generally don't take into account "wet" running as much as you have to partydance.gif

I need new tyres now as my 3year old Toyo Ra1's are finished and I will be going with the R888's. If you want a tyre purely for Hillclimbing the Dunlop R's are the best (and most expensive) way to go.

Hi guys,

Kumho sell two DOT rated 'R' Tyres the V70A and V700, the V70A is available in multiple compounds, the V700 only medium, the Toyo R888 only 'GG' medium compound. if you are looking at buying tyres for a specific application then I.M.O having experienced both you should find a kumho that will match anything! however if you want a multi purpose tyre it is hard to go past the R888 or the Dunlop DZ03 which is certainly better than the RA1. If you would like to chat about it give me a call on

thanks for the responses,

after a few more opinions;

for Supersprint work would the "soft" khumo be ok? considering that tassie weather would be a tad lower and more chance of rain than qld. i.e overheat?

Would I potentially have any gain of running 195's vs 185's on a 6 inch rim? i.e tyre wall deflection vs contact patch

cheers

Hi Michael

Just talk to Paul at historic baskerville this weekend. We're going to be running advans and toyo's. Not too sure what'll work bes tin damp conditions. Have pretty shagged 888's or good tread on advans.

Any idea what pressures would be a good starting point??

Guessing you're not a fan then Danny :)

Honestly though, its either run half shagged toyo's, or some yoko's with decent tread. By the look sof the forecast its going to be wet!

Unless you know of anyone in tas with a decent cheap set of toyo's??

Cheers
