Dry Sump Oil Line Routing

Postby MK1_Oz » Sun Jul 08, 2012 11:05 am

Due to severe space restrictions inside the Escort I am struggling to find space to lay the dry sump lines from the boot to the engine bay.

I really wanted to go through the centre of the car so that IF we have a side impact the lines are less likely to be involved. However, this does not appear possible due to my handbrake being mounted on an angle and 2 rather large seats.

How safe/unsafe is it to lay the lines along the sill? Maybe if I add a slight bend to the hose to allow it to move before pulling on the bulkhead fittings??

run it down the centre of the passenger floor if the inside sill or transmission tunnel is full.
if it has to go outside attach it to the inside edge of the chassis rail, hidden away from the stones coming of the wheels and inboard of any side impact. I wouldnt leave any loose hose anywhere as this is mor likely to end up dragging after a zip tie failure or similar than you are taking it out with a tree. best route it on the opposite side to the exhaust if possible.
