I run E85 in my turbo car.

It gets a lot more power/torque and runs cooler but needs about 30 % more fuel. It is however generally cheaper than other race fuels.

In an N/A motor I believe to get the maximum advantage you would require more comp. There is a guy down here that is running 14.5:1 and using webers. Makes excellent power.

The lines need to be E85 compliant but the fuel now has an additive to protect rubber lines. I haven't had a problem of this nature. It does destroy paint - at least as bad as brake fluid.

Best stick with an EFI system. It is possible to run E85 through a Weber/Dellorto but fuel metering can be a problem with a requirement for big needle/seat combo and apparently its a bit corrosive on some components.

i have a e85 tune in the esky and it loves, runs cooler and makes decent power, but the only drama i see with it there is not many places to buy it in QLD at the moment so you have to stock up before hand.
also it doesnt last that long once exposed to the air and when it goes off it basically turns into 91 octane......

I like the idea of running the engine a little cooler. Always nice to hear from people who actually use the stuff as the internob is full of chinese whispers on the subject.

Replacement carby rubber components are now available apparently to prevent E85 carby issues.

I am back thinking about 98 vs E85 again....

I run E85 in my road Esky (2L Pinto, turbo and injection) and the performance is excellent.

The intake temps even on a hot day have to be seen to be believed.

I am spoilt as there are two Caltex servo's within convenient to my location!

Only thing I would contemplate is adding a flex fuel sensor to allow for real time adjustment of the map for different concentrations of the ethanol (the Caltex fuel can vary between 70 and 85 percent).

It is very boost friendly and forgiving of boost spikes.
