Brake Portioning Value

I think I've called it the right thing - it could also be the brake balance valve.

I'm referring to the brake part that is attached to the innder guard just in front of the firewall on drivers side of a Mk 2 Escort. All the brake lines run through this.

Query is - is there an after market replacement for these or is it just a case of hunting through parts boxes and old cars. Mine has a continual leak & I want replace it. I think I've got a spare somewhere, but its condition is unknown (ie: does it work/leak). I'd rather replace it if there is something new that I can put in place.

It's a brake failsafe device that might have worked for the first couple of years. Basically the front and rear circuits are separated by a floating piston. If either front or rear brakes suffer a fluid leak, the floating piston will move and block off the leaking system and activate the warning light.

No idea if they are still made, could possibly get an old one rebuilt.
