Hi all,
Im looking to replace the ignition barrel and key on my MK2 RS. The keys for it are all but flogged out and when you turn the ignition on sometimes you get a start, sometimes you have to wiggle and turn the key on/off, sometimes you need a squirt od WD40 just to get the key in the barrel!. There are a few on ebay for around $75, keys and ignition barrel- original ford, and also the steering column switch block. Trouble is Id also have to do the door locks and boot lid but then Id need a different key for those. What have others done for this, I havent been able to track down an aftermarket supplier for keys/barrels to suit me.
Cheers
Shep

Find a car that is being wrecked (or buy yourself a donor car for a few hundred dollars) and take the ignition barrell out - real easy to swap over with a phillips head screw driver. Just make sure its got an ignition key in it that works.

If your keen you could swap all the door and boot locks over (assuming they match the car you buy). Alternatively have 2 keys - one for igintion and 1 for the rest.
