RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

Dunno what you would call this other than a bolt but where could I get some from in Australia? I tried the Coventry Fasteners website but they have nothing. Dont really know what I am asking for (ie name) so finding it hard to search.

Got any ideas??

MK1 oz, at this stage of your build it looks like you need to find someone who has a lathe and does jobbing work.
If he has a quill type milling machine as well, all the better.

Your build is moderately ambitious

You are going to need all sorts of spacers, fittings, gubbins and what-nots and made from steel and aluminium and perhaps hard plastic. Things are going to need to be modified.

The fitting in the picture, if it has a female thread, could be called a tube bush, a weld in spacer, a sleeve nut or a ferrule and is a special part. It has probably been made on a CNC repetition machine.

It looks like it is from mild steel. Material to hand, 4 of those would take a competent operator about half an hour to make.

A graph paper book for doing scaled and dimensioned sketches is invaluable and usually quicker than a computer.
A machinist will prefer to work to a drawing.

The Gartrac system uses square bar (I know your not a fan of that!) with these dooflicky things welded in for the mounting bolts.

instead of that custom part how about welding a crush tube into the square tube and use a longer bolt through the seat bar to secure the seat. much easier than having apart machined or waiting for more from the UK.

PS: almost every part I purchased for my mild build needed modifying or alteration to suit the purpose Ihad for it. You will needa mate with a lathe etc.
