Motorkhana grounds?

Postby shaunb » Sun Jan 02, 2011 9:44 pm

With all the rain recently and the likelihood that it will be wet well into the new year I would like to run some bitumen motorkhanas for our local Gold Coast club.

I know HSCC use Willowbank.

But....does anyone have any contacts locally that can access truck parking areas, depots, any large open bitumen area?

Would be keen to explore some options.

Happy to hear from anyone either on here, pm or phone call (0409279929).

PS: Don't mention Mt Cotton Driver training complex, that one is a shot duck.

Cheers

BSCC ran a QMC somewhere near Springwood (Keema??) a couple of years ago, but I heard it was very tight. Queensland raceway was a very good venue for us and we ran the 2000 AMC (as well as a lot of club days) there, but Tetley kept upping the $$ and screwing us around with dates so we went to Willowbank raceway. Seems to be working out well for HSCC, I think they're running a lot of events there this year. I haven't seen a calendar yet but they usually kick off with a come and try in Feb.

Last time i was at a HSCCCQ event at Willowbank they were only using 2 test areas (out of 3). Drop Keith an email and you might be able to arrange a combined event. (butchy underscore hsccq at tpg com au.)

It's a long haul from the gold coast, but much better with the new Centenary highway extension.

Anyone know a contact for the Darlington Park Industrial Estate at the back of Ormeau? If you look at the google maps aerial pics you can see loads of space that is away from the business units....and the old kart track looks a great venue!
