Mk1 Escort Under Boot Tank

This car shows the fuel tank filler on the rear panel and the tank under the floor as per Mk2. Is this a mod or did the Mk1 come out like that??? Mine is a 1970 and had the usual side tank and side filler.

All Mk1's and early Mk2's were on the side, ADR's changed and they had to be moved outside the car, sometime in '76 or '77 I think. That looks DIY, and pretty ugly at that.

Cheers Oz. I have never taken too much notice of the differences between years and models before but am trying to take more interest these days.

This 1970 Twin Cam appears to show the later heater bubble that had the edges squared off?? Again, my 1970 Super has the bubble that is pointy at the ends.

(Apologies for posting random ebay items. It's an easy way to show what I mean. I have no connection with any of the sellers)

I hadn't noticed that difference, although it's been a long time since I saw an early mk1. With posting ebay links, it may sometimes be better to save the picture then upload it to the thread. At least it won't disappear when the auction ends.
