Disconnect wire from TANK sender and see what happens?

Short to earth, [the wire end off tank sender] and what happens ?

i disconnnected the wire from the tank sender and it didnt read anything
i earthed it and it read full again.

what does this mean

ok another problem.

when i turn my lights on all the guages except the speedo and tacho go off the guage. when i turn them off they go back to normal.

how can i fix this :?:

Sounds like the instrument cluster earth needs fixing.
