Bump
Also interested in ideas on this & what about adding the Crane option X700 (??). I had a Pertronix and it has died - car would not have been running for more then 30 minutes.
My car will be a daily driver running twin 40 Delorttos and Tighe 949 Cam

Dad had a Pertronix on his road car (standard 2ltr) for years and then switched it to the car we run on the track (twin Webers + cam etc). It's still in there and (keeping fingers crossed) still working. Don't know about the others but I still give a vote to the Pertronix.

i had a Pertronix kit running for a year or so until something in my ignition system went.
as far as i know it still worked, but i managed to get a Crane X700 kit. thats been running quite well, but when i last got it tuned i was told it had a weak spark.

Guys,
For a few years we used an old Crane XR700 points to electric ignition box and an MSD 6A with a Blaster 2 coil. We found it made a big difference to the day to day running of the car and made for better fuel burn, and much longer lasting spark plugs.
The car is being restored again due to fire damage (busted fuel line = not fun) and plan on buying these electronics again very soon.
Chris.

Add another type to the mix -
Regrafted standard manufacturer dizzy (brand unknown, but part no's all there for investigating) with electronic inginition built in. Is a big unit so can't be run with side drafts, but just fits with down drafts. My car starts easily, even if it's been sitting for a couple of weeks, idles perfectly, and revs out with ease. Set up now two years old, and should be reliable as it's manufactured as a complete unit.
