Speedo Problem

Postby Matt1975 » Fri Nov 05, 2010 5:51 pm

Hi Guys,

I am having two problems with the dash.

1. My speedo won't work. The needle just stays at the very bottom of the dash. (See pic)

What could it be?

1. Not connecting properly with speedo cable. I checked this so am not sure this is it.

2. Speedo cable stuffed.

Am keen to hear any other solutions.

The 2nd problem is the temp gauge doesn't seem to move. What things should I check?

Cheers

Matt

When I spin the speedo input shaft with my fingers the needle moves and the numbers tick over.

Sounds like it may be the cable then?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Will do.

Would that explain why the needle sits below the 0 and rest on the reset pin?

I doubt it, I'm guessing there's a stop for the needle behind it somewhere. The needle may have spun on it's shaft

Have fixed the problem now.

It seems all it was was that the needle had worked its' way loose and the shaft was just spinning and the needle stayed still.

All I did was push on the needle to make it tighter on the spindle and jobs done.

I have seen this problem a fair bit on various dash's and it seems a very simple fix.

Cheers
