Plenty of different widths in Hilux and Hiace.

The 4wd hilux is wider than the equal model 2wd.

Fairly sure a 1450w toy diff would not be difficult to find.

There is a reference on the Volvo site i provided that the front axle LSD centers can be used in the rear as it is only the C/P that are cut to a reverse rotation. I have not seen an LSD that are specific to the front

Yep....I nearly picked one up last week for a $100 with new Oil Seals but I stopped myself because I've got to finish mine first and then start modifying otherwise it will never see the light of day!

There's a few in the UK running Volvo diffs and engines but your gearbox options are reduced to basically the Getrag 260 series 262/265 BMW/Volvo/Opel which are very hard to get good ratios for. I have seen Duratec power figures from the 8v B230 engines though, which if you use a certain Penta marine crank CAN get you 2.8litres and around 250hp+ if the head is done right. That's alot of poke and capacity from a Granddad Company Car!!

Good luck getting the Jeep LSD I'm really interested to see it work out.....I'm currently emailing these guys for more info and pricing.

I just thought they were Horrid to drive. I think I'd give up rallying if I had to drive a 140/240 on a stage!

By the way I meant your Gearbox options are limited on the back of a Volvo engine...my bad.

Hey. I spent hours learning everything I can about diffs yesterday. Theory, whats best for different situations, etc. It seems that for tarmac situations a clutch plate deisgn is whats wanted. True? Also, you want minimal cluthes, say only 2?

Having looked around at the Hilux vs Volvo option It seems that the range of proper LSD clutch pack designs is limited for the Volvo. In fact I could only find a TrueTrak diff from the states (although quite inexpensive.) This item will keep up to 75% of torque going to the driving wheel if the other one slips. Aren't you wanting 100%? The Volvo diff you want is the old Power LoK but thats no longer made...

So I've looked at the Hilux. From what I can see, the standard LSD is average although I couldn't quite determine why. People seem to suggest a KAAZ unit, but that seems rather expensive. Whats good about it? What other options are available?

I'll I wanted was a new set of wheels.... :shock: :lol: now after all the research I've done I've realised everything is inter-connected with everything else and I've had to move all the way into all this theory to get the proper setup and get it right the first time... :neutral: :shock:

HAHA. :lol: Thanks Rhys. Not quite what I'm looking for. Their similar to the Quaife ATB units. That means if an inside wheel lifts it becomes like a normal diff. Clutches apear to be the way to go....
