Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to use R32 rear calipers with a non vented disc - ie about 10 mm thick. Or will the pistons protrude too far causing problems?

From some research I did previously I believe the R32 rear disks are normally 18mm and the pads 11.5mm thick. Not sure if after-market pads can be found that are thicker. Failing that, always leave the last 4mm on the pad before changing them :D

Why not use Vented rotors?

I use a solid audi rotor with my R32 calipers on the back.

Thanks Mark. I thought of splitting the caliper and machining 3mm or so off each half if neccesary to reduce the gap but I will try as is. Vented rotors are extra weight and are only probably needed in extreme cases (hi po turbo?) A look at the group n BDA escorts that run some pretty quick lap times with just drums on the back means that a solid disc should do ok! Roger Carroll ran 3rd at the IP nationals and is going back to solid discs.
