RS Motorsport :: Classic Speed Restored

What 1600 4 cylinder ford motor or other similar motor sold in a ford body would give the best bang for my dollar in an Improved production senario In a Mk1 escort.
Does anyone know what power the under 1600 class competitors have in Imp prod.
ie would a mazda 4 as sold in the laser tx3 be better than a 1600 crosflow, or would a 1600 zetec as sold in the new fiesta be better.
Any ideas or knowledge welcomed.

Go and get yourself a Formula Atlantic BDD out of the states as you can land one for about $10k and it has everything and is all steel and all you have to do is put some smaller cams in and you're off with probably the class leading grunt

what is class leading grunt from a 1600. 150HP, 200HP or more. The 1600 class is a little thin here in Adelaide from what I can gather. It may be a cheap championship??? if there is such a thing as cheap. What is a Formula Atlantic BDD? What are they from. I assume they are eligible for Improved proddies.
Are parts readily available locally and are rebuilds affordable.
