guys does the duratec out of the xr5 turbo fit into the escorts as easy as the na versions of zetec ect? have the chance to get one fairly cheap ecu loom ect but dont wanna fork it out if its a bastard to fit

No, totally different motor. It's actually a Volvo motor.
I have seen someone in Europe on another forum (maybe turbosport.co.uk) that put one in an Escort.

You can fit anything in with enough time, effort and money but I would think that transplant would needs lots of all three. Apart from making all the ancillaries from scratch I would think getting a gearbox/bellhousing combination to suit would be the hardest part.
Good on you for thinking outside the square though.
